Taming the shadow self
The shadow self is comprised of our subconscious, our hidden thoughts and desires, and our self-criticisms. Facing this shadow self can be uncomfortable and sometimes painful. Because we tend to avoid pain, many of us see our shadow self as dark and intimidating. However, this is simply fear talking, as the shadow self possesses valuable knowledge, instincts, and a drive for self-improvement. The shadow helps us find harmony and balance.
Both shamans and counsellors work towards forming an alliance with the shadow, understanding that it can be our greatest ally rather than an enemy.
Your host, experienced in both counselling and shamanism, will expertly guide you through a day of self-discovery and direction-finding. The day will include deep breathing exercises, guided journeys, deeper soul retrieval, creative play, and much more to help you connect with and tame your shadow self.
This workshop is 9 – 3pm. Cost £185pp light lunch included
Upcoming date – 9th July 2025 (Wednesday)

4 workshops following the directions of the medicine wheel
The medicine wheel is a tool used by shamans to help them find direction, clarity, and help from the different energies of each direction. The north is earth and is associated with grounding, rest, and connection to earth. It also holds the energy of giants and the bear. The east is air and is associated with our thoughts and inner dialogue. It also holds the energy of birds and insects of flight. The south is fire and is connected with our passions, desires, motivation, and action. It also holds the energies of lizards, ground insects, and the lion.
The west is water and is about our emotions and how well we are listening and holding them. This also holds the energies of the whale and dolphin. Each workshop is a day long and concentrates on one direction at a time.
Each course has been carefully constructed around counselling techniques and both shamanic and energy healing work.
You can choose to do one workshop or all 4. It’s entirely what feels right for you.
West
West is Water and represents our emotions, how we feel about ourselves, and how well we are connected to our heart. The whale symbolism is centred around self-expression, creativity, and immersing yourself in what you feel.
During this course, you will focus on your heart. Our activities are designed to help you listen to your heart, release any burdens, and protect it by implementing necessary changes. The workshop includes guided meditations to connect with your heart, a heart healing ritual using plant spirit medicine, and a water ceremony for release. We will also seek to rediscover our laughter.
Indicators of problems in the West include: Any emotional disturbance - meaning if your feelings are too much, too little, or are controlling your life. A feeling of sickness, butterflies, or a knot in your stomach is also a strong indicator of unhealed emotions. Flashbacks and anxiety are also indicators. Being unable to recognise or meet your own needs. Do you even know what those needs are.
East
The Air (East) represents our thoughts and our inner dialogue. It also represents our communication with ourselves and others. The symbolism of birds in general is one of breaking free – and of course, each type of bird has its own special meaning.
We will be calling in the energy of the owl whose symbolism includes watching your thoughts, allowing yourself to become the observer and act with intuition and wisdom rather than just reacting.
This day course looks at how to distinguish between your thoughts. We will start to understand the difference between emotionally driven but unrecognised thoughts and empty thoughts. Empty thoughts are powerful thoughts but when questioned have no real substance behind them. Learn how to be in charge of your thoughts without being militant. Learn what it really means to be kind to yourself.
This course uses a mixture of traditional learning, creative therapy, mindfulness, and meditation. We will also do an air ceremony built around releasing powerful but empty thoughts and then creating new, more balanced ones that resonate more with who you want to be.
Indicators of problems in the East include: an overly critical inner-voice, being in your head too much, not being able to connect with feelings very well. Feeling fraught and anxious.
South
The Fire (south) represents our passions, motivational power (or lack of), and the actions we take. It also represents our resilience and ability to adapt and be spontaneous. It is a high energy direction. The energy of the lizard is about moving with efficiency, whilst the energy of the lion reminds us to not get lost in the doing but to connect with our hearts. The lion encourages us to move forward with courage.
This day course is around balancing your inner fire. Whether your inner fire is too big and taking over or whether your fire has almost burnt out, this workshop will help you build a new, well-considered, well-controlled but roaring fire. This course will include a fire ceremony and a fire dance (participation is by choice). It also involves finding what we have lost and how to move forward like the lizard – with efficiency and without burnout!
Indicators of problems in the South include: It can be at either end of the scale; it can be a lack of motivation, or an inability to get going – or it can be an inability to slow down or stop. It can also be seen as productive procrastination, meaning you feel like you are always busy and doing so much but you aren’t getting anywhere. Other indicators are a loss of passion or interests. It feels like there is no balance.
North
The Earth (North) represents our inner core, how grounded we are, our connection to the earth, and our commitment/enjoyment of being human. It is also about our recognition for the need to rest. The energy of the bear symbolises the need to balance activities and rest. The bear energy asks us to set boundaries and protect our personal space and need for solitude at times.
Calling in the energy of the bear we will seek to rebalance and refuel the tired spirit. Through peaceful and gentle activities we will nourish the soul, feeding it through thoughtful and considered reflections. When not resting the bear likes to wander, feeling the earth under its heavy paws. We too, will wander for a short and gentle time to reconnect with the earth beneath us as part of the day.
Indicators of problems in the North include: depression, deep sadness, disassociation (you are here, but not here – you do things but are not present and often can’t remember completing that task or that car journey to work, the days all blend into one), digestive problems, and difficulty connecting with emotions in a productive way.
Each course is £185pp, light lunch is included. All 4 days can be booked in one go for a discounted price of £680pp.

Awaken your senses
This is a 3-day workshop running back-to-back and is all about awakening and connecting.
Our experience of the world is felt through our 5 senses of taste, touch, sound, smell, and sight. We use these senses to navigate our everyday, to find comfort and stimulation. It is so automatic and natural that we do this without thinking. But can you remember as a child rubbing your hand along a new texture or tasting something for the first time? Those experiences made us alert and excited for life. This retreat is about finding that feeling again.
Our five senses are not only meant to help us experience the external world, but also connect with our inner world, our emotions, and through that, strengthen our connection with spirit.
Every emotion is experienced within our bodies. For instance, receiving bad news might make us feel a chill. When we are cautious of someone, we might sense a bitter taste in their presence. Stress can cause a ringing in our ears, sadness may dull our sense of smell, and excitement can make our eyes widen.
Our bodies are more attuned to ourselves than we often realize. By tuning in and listening, our senses can guide us. Connecting with our senses more deeply allows us to form a clearer connection with our spiritual guides. This can open us to heightened energy and bring healing and clarity into our lives.
This workshop serves as a sensory banquet and a doorway to a deeper spiritual connection, enabling you to live a more enlightened and interconnected life.
The 3 days will be broken up into half days spent connecting with each of the 5 senses in a more profound, mindful, but playful way. As our senses awaken, we will embark upon guided journeys to the spiritual realm to seek answers to the questions we have.
Activities include, drumming and rattling, breathwork, tasting and feeling, colour work using a variety of mediums, mindful walking, trust building with self and others, playtime – by this we mean time to just have fun, have a laugh, and relax. Spiritual connecting circles, and emotional release sessions through movement and sound.
This workshop collection welcomes both seasoned spiritual practitioners and newcomers curious about exploring deeper connections. For those with experience, it will fine-tune your senses, reinforce your inner voice, and help you bond with like-minded individuals. Beginners will find it an opportunity to awaken their senses, establish the mind-body-spirit link, and begin their journey into the spiritual world.
